Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
Hey everybody! I'm excited to be able to announce publicly that I did some work on the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 music. Yes, I did! I wrote additional lyrics to the wonderful song "Where Are We Going?". I was thinking about the 4 elements when I wrote those lyrics. And I did some composing and wrote lyrics on other music in the game THAT IS BEING RELEASED TOMORROW. And I can talk about that more tomorrow. So, watch! #CallofDuty #BlackOps4 #Lyricist #CindyShapiro #WhereAreWeGo

It's An Update!
Last month we took our show and our beautiful cast and crew to Paris and Casablanca. Here we are in front of La Nouvelle Eve, the theatre where we performed our show. This theatre (I can't decide to continue to spell this "theatre" or "theater". Thoughts?) opened on Christmas Eve, 1897. It feels as if you can still smell cigarette smoke in the velvet seats and carpet from that night in 1897. There is a hole in the ceiling above the stage where the semi-nude showgirls were dro

I'm in Sales!
Right. So we're in a "pause" on the show right now. We have a solid booking in Casablanca, Morocco in March of 2018, so that'll be fun! But right now we're in pitching mode for our show. We want to continue on with the type of experience we had at Chapman U at the INCREDIBLE Musco Center for the Arts. Janet and I were treated so well there by the Executive Director (Richard Bryant who booked us), the Musco Staff, the professors from the performing arts areas of the U, the MUS

You want to be in our show! (You know you do...) + info on CINDY'S BRAIN
Hello all! It's been a WHILE since I've blogged. Why? General laziness and ennui? Nothing of note to say? The elections are weighing too heavily on me? NO!! None of those things. For those who don't know me well, the news is that I had to have urgent brain surgery a few months ago (November Friday the 13th, to be specific) and I've been healing up since then. I HAVE A FLAIR FOR THE DRAMATIC -- is my claim. Yep. My problem was a 1.5cm colloid cyst that was just hanging out in

NEWS -- (there's news). Also: Build-a-Show
Hello all! It's been a little while since I've posted a thing, which happens when one gets busy. It's been a big time in my life and the life of my little family. My only child went away to school clear across the country. She's at the perfect place for her at the perfect time. It was a bit rough taking her to school, but she's all tucked in and having the time of her life. My husband has finished one the of biggest projects of his career. A news item should be coming up any

Anaïs Nin and me
I feel a real kinship with Anais Nin. I mean, I'd wear a birdcage on my head like that! Wouldn't even think twice... She died in the 70s. Did you know she died in Los Angeles? Did you know that her archive resides at UCLA? Did you know that she lived here in a mid-century modern home designed by Eric Lloyd Wright, the grandson of Frank Lloyd Wright? Her second (bigamist) husband, Rupert Pole, was his half-brother. Did I say BIGAMIST? I did! (This is NOT a reason I feel kinshi
There, it is done.
And if you got that reference, you must be the CHEF of the FUTURE!!! But, seriously everybody, I finished Psyche a couple of weeks ago. I got to the end. Wrote the last note. The last word. Stayed true to the ancient story. Imbued it to the best of my ability with the insights of the Jungians (without, you know, banging the audience over the head with it). It. Is. Done. I honestly wasn't sure if I would make it to the finish line. It was looming out there. I knew the trajecto
Keeping On Keeping On
Some days it's hard to keep going. I wake up, and think, "But, I don't wanna write an opera!!" like someone's making me do it... But now I have interest and creative buy-in from a variety of people, including my husband, who is music directing the piece. I'll post more details about this hopefully very soon, but suffice to say that there are other people who are now becoming involved. This is kicking my ass. I have a goal of finishing the piece by June of 2012. At that point,

Amor Con Fortuna
https://soundcloud.com/cindy-shapiro/amor-con-fortuna Hello! It's a little blog to talk about this piece I made the other day. I'm taking a class at Antioch LA called Parallel Worlds: Renaissance to Modern Art in Europe and the Americas. Here is a description from the syllabus: “Parallel Worlds” examines art practices across the hemispheres from 1300 to 1950. The course unpacks the influence and stylistic variances within European (and later international) art during this pe
